Kawah Putih ( White Crater )
Hi There, here i am…again :D the most beautiful girls in the world ( well….my kids said so :P ) sitting in front of my PC accompanied a cup of tea and beautiful evening in Bandung want to introduce you one of most favourite place here…but before that, i would like you to know that Bandung have so many interesting places to visit with pretty awesome scenery! hmmm dont be curious darling because i will show you those place if you visit me haha…
Well, today i will introduce you about the place called “ Kawah Putih “ or literaly translated means The White Crafter which it located on South Bandung the Capital City of West Java near the charming little market of Ciwidey. The Crater Lake is one of two craters of Mount Patuha, with the dry Kawah Patuha or the Patuha Crater located 600 meters to its northwest, being the other.
As the name suggests, the Crater Lake and its surroundings are dominated by a pale white color which radiates a rather hypnotizing ambience. The vast dormant volcanic crater is filled with surreal turquoise-colored water. On sunny days, the color of the lake is stark and bright, while on cloudy days, the entire crater can be shrouded in mist, which presents its own mystical beauty. The tree-clad cliffs surrounding the crater reach around 2,500 meters above sea level and make for a stunning backdrop, especially when the clouds start to roll in. The altitude here brings with it chilly temperatures, which in a way, will add to the magical splendor of Kawah Putih.
At the time, there were various local stories about the history of the area. Birds were said to avoid flying near the region and some were even found dead after flying above the lake. Villagers in the area tended to regard the forest around the lake as eerie and somewhat mysterious. These stories prompted Dr Junghuhn to investigate, and so discovered Kawah Putih. He concluded that the birds flying over the Crater Lake died due to its high concentration of sulfur
Upon this discovery, a sulfur plant known as the Zwavel Ontginning Kawah Putih was established by the lake during Dutch rule on Java. In World War II the plant was taken over by the Japanese military and was operated under the name Kawah Putih Kenzanka Yokoya Ciwidey. Today the plant no longer exists , however, entry points to its tunnels, remnants of these mining activities can still be seen at several points around the current site.
First opened for visitors in 1987, nowadays Kawah Putih is a favorite destination for tourists and day trippers who are simply stunned by its mesmerizing ambience. On weekends and on holidays, quite large numbers of visitors frequently visit the area just to immerse themselves in the mystical beauty of nature
Leading up to the mountainous area of Kawah Putih you will be presented with a number of houses surrounded by strawberry fields. You can buy fresh strawberries or even pick them yourself. Not only do they make great souvenirs, you will also have fun experiencing this with your family.
Ciwidey is also famous for its Sundanese traditional drink called Bandrek. Made from Ginger and brown sugar, the warming beverage perfectly fits Ciwidey’s cold climate. As a souvenir, you can buy bottled bandrek in the many shops in Ciwidey with prices ranging from IDR8000 to IDR 16000.
Another signature snack of Ciwidey is the Kalua Sweets. Made from dried Pomelo skin, the Kalua comes in a variety of colors such as brown, red, green, and white
So, what are you waiting for? Visit Bandung and us to see how beautiful Bandung is……See Ya!

Tangkuban Perahu Mountain
(spelt Tangkuban Parahu in the local Sundanese dialect) is a dormant volcano 30 km north of the city of Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java, Indonesia. It last erupted in 1959. It is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs and boiling mud up close, and buy eggs cooked on the hot surface. This stratovolcano is on the island of Java and last erupted in 1983. Together with Mount Burangrang and Bukit Tunggul, those are remnants of the ancient Mount Sunda after the plinian eruption caused the Caldera to collapse.
The name translates roughly to "upturning of (a) boat" or "upturned boat" in Sundanese, referring to the local legend of its creation. The story tells of "Dayang Sumbi", a beauty who lived in West Java. She cast away her son "Sangkuriang" for disobedience, and in her sadness was granted the power of eternal youth by the gods. After many years in exile, Sangkuriang decided to return to his home, long after the two had forgotten and failed to recognize each other. Sangkuriang fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and planned to marry her, only for Dayang Sumbi to recognize his birthmark just as he was about to go hunting.
In order to prevent the marriage from taking place, Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to build a dam on the river Citarum and to build a large boat to cross the river, both before the sunrise. Sangkuriang meditated and summoned mythical ogre-like creatures -buta hejo or green giant(s)- to do his bidding. Dayang Sumbi saw that the tasks were almost completed and called on her workers to spread red silk cloths east of the city, to give the impression of impending sunrise. Sangkuriang was fooled, and upon believing that he had failed, kicked the dam and the unfinished boat, resulting in severe flooding and the creation of Tangkuban Perahu from the hull of the boat. A study conducted in 2001 determined that Tangkuban Perahu has erupted at least 30 times in the previous 40,750 years.
Studies of the tephra layers within 3 km of the crater revealed that twenty one were minor eruptions and the remaining nine were major eruptions. The eruptions that occurred prior to approximately 10,000 years ago were magmatic/phreatomagmatic. The eruptions that occurred after 10,000 years ago were phreatic
